Somehow, I just knew this would appeal to this group. Cut and pasting from the Shakespeare Society website

Boys Will Be Girls
Cross-dressing in Shakespeare
Boys Will Be Girls will be an irreverent examination of cross-dressing and sexual role-playing in Shakespeare featuring Tony Award winner Jefferson Mays (I Am My Own Wife), Academy Award nominee David Strathairn (Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, and Good Luck), Michael Cumpsty (The Constant Wife), and Hamish Linklater. We will look at the ways single-sex casting informs our understanding of how Shakespeare and his actors originally attempted to portray, understand, and invent what it means to be a woman. Watch a male Lady Macbeth as she unsexes; watch a man play a woman playing a man as Rosalind lets Orlando know what women want; and in a contemporary twist, watch members of The Queen's Company ("All female! All the time! No apologies!") in highlights from their acclaimed all-women 2005 production of The Taming of the Shrew. With commentary by Dympna Callaghan, Syracuse University professor and author of Shakespeare Without Women. Current Mood: curious

|Oh my God.
Ok, I am on the verge of tears. U.S. burns skin off children in Iraq
-- the link contains graphic images, but go ahead and click on it. You should be sickened and frickin' outraged.
Even though I'm not an American citizen, I choose to live here, so let me apologize personally to all those mothers and fathers in Iraq who have lost children because of this sick practice in order to "see better".
I'm emailing this to my senators (both women Democrats), and my congressman (who's under investigation at the moment and probably won't pay any attention), and to my local news media. If you feel as strongly about this as I do, you'll go forth and do the same. Current Mood: outraged

People! Entertain me -- post frequently on matters great and trivial. I'm sick and can't concentrate on my writing for more than, oh, a minute. Divert me, sil'vous plait! Current Mood: crappy

I have no pic (well, not yet), this will be my only post as I'm dedicating this as a purely reading journal. If you want to read about me, then you'll need to head over to volterra
to see what I'm up to and what I'm about.
